Do they have a favorite team? An "arch enemy?" Teens may not verbalize their allegiances, but they have them. This week we will explore Luke 14:25-33, and what it means when Jesus calls us to "hate" others. I know they are confused by this statement, so we are going to talk about that, and what it means to be truly committed to Jesus Christ over all else.

In an effort to build relationships and friendships (while eating ice cream), we plan to meet at the Englewood Steak and Shake tomorrow night for dinner and shakes together (and some good fellowship time!!!). Teens just need to bring money for what they want (plus tip). 6:30-8pm.
BONUS CONTENT: Since this week we will be having a fun night at the Englewood Steak and Shake, I wanted to post a resource I found that you can share with your teen about how to improve their Bible study skills. Here is a link to the article. https://www.cru.org/train-and-grow/bible-studies/7-steps-to-improve-your-bible-study.html A tentative summer schedule is below. Pray with me as we prepare to tackle the issue of religious leaders (the Pharisees) who honored God with their lips, but their hearts were far from Him. Major texts: Matt 15:8 & Luke 15:11-32. Next week (6/8) we will meet at Englewood Steak & Shake for a Fun Night (6:30pm) - bring $ for food and/or shakes! Is your child a fan or a follower?
Do they sit in the "church stands" and cheer for Jesus when everything is good, but struggle when they are challenged to be a follower? Then this series will challenge them to look at their relationship with Christ and how serious they are about Jesus. Major text will be Luke 9:23. 1. Seek God's guidance for your child(ren).
Understand that your children have been entrusted to you by God, and seek HIS guidance in raising them, etc. 2. Know your spiritual gifts and expose your child(ren) to others who possess various different spiritual gifts. God has gifted each of us uniquely for our walk, and HIS plan for us. You will have come gifts that you can encourage and disciple in, but we are certainly not strong in all areas. A balanced discipleship path for your teen is to expose them to believers with other gifts to help them become well-balanced and mature in their faith. 3. When in doubt, start with the basics. At a loss with where you should start? Have you considered teaching your child(ren) about prayer, Bible study, Scripture memory, witnessing, ministry, worship and fellowship? Have you taught them how to study the Word? Do they have a mentor or disciple in their life other than you? Pray for/about this, and seek to pour the basics of the faith into them so they can grow in Christ!
This week students will be challenged to EMERGE from where they currently are. Face to face with the vision of what we are all about at REpurposed Youth, students will be challenged to look at how they can grow as disciples of Christ, and encouraged to pray that they would be used as DISCIPLE MAKERS, and they would help bring about REVIVAL in their school, town, youth group, etc.
Major texts will be from Philippians 3:12-15 & 1 Timothy 4:12-16.
